Types of Presser Feet - Part 2




In part 1 of the series we covered the following:

Braiding Foot, Fringe Foot, 5 Hole Cording Foot, 7 Hole Cording Foot, Edge Joining Foot, 1/4 Inch Quilting Foot, Straight Stitch Foot, and Open Toe Embroidery Foot


Let's move on so we can understand 8 more different kinds of feet available! 



1.  Round Bead foot:
This foot is suitable for embellishing clothing with beads using threads with a diameter of up to 4mm. It is handy to attach beads or sequins to necklines, etc.

How to use: Simply place the beads on the fabric, drop the needle slowly using the handle to ensure the stitches are falling in the right place and simple continue sewing!

2. Zigzag Foot:
Zigzag Foot is a general purpose foot which capable of a variety of stitches and functions. The basic foot is mostly used for everyday straight and zigzag stitches, but the wide needle hole can also sew applique, joining, smocking, fagoting, elastic, shell tuck, and decorative stitches

How to use: This foot is similar to the basic foot that you might be currently using, the only different is that it the stitches will be zigzag instead of straight.

3. Cording Foot:
The cording foot makes attaching decorative cords and threads a snap. This foot eliminates tangling to ensure that cord lie flat and perfectly parallel to each other!

How to use: The cording foot controls threads so both hands can guide the fabric. Use this foot to create decorative stitching over cording on single and double layers of fabric.

4. 1/4 quilting foot with Edge
This foot is similar to the one we saw in Part 1 (1/4 inch quilting foot), however, this foot has an edge.

How to use: With the inclusion of the edge, it becomes easier to stitch in a straight line and ensures your fabric is always lined up.

5. 9 Groove Pintuck Foot
Pintuck feet are designed to create small tucks in your fabric virtually effortlessly. With a pintuck foot plus a twin needle, you can create beautiful evenly spaced fabric tucks in a snap.

How to use: Pintuck foot with 9 grooves are best for very lightweight fabrics. These handy presser feet make the job of stitching tiny little tucks in your fabric easier!

6. Overcast foot
 This foot creates a consistent and accurate overcasting stitch for a serged effect using your sewing machine.

How to use: Thread is locked around the edge of fabric aligned with the edge, to prevent fabric from raveling.

7. Stitch guide foot
The stitch guide sewing foot is a unique foot that allows the user to sew with accuracy.

How to use: The foot is incrementally marked and the user can simply line up the edge of your fabric to any of the red markings to keep a consistent seam.

8. 5 Groove Pintuck Foot
Pintuck feet are designed to create small tucks in your fabric virtually effortlessly. With a pintuck foot plus a twin needle, you can create beautiful, evenly spaced fabric tucks in a snap.

How to use: Pintuck foot with 5 grooves are best for very medium weight fabrics. these handy presser feet make the job of stitching tiny little tucks in your fabric much easier!
