Sewing Tips & Tricks: Learn How to Preserve Sewing Patterns

Use fusible interfacing to stabilize delicate tissue paper patterns.

Remove creases from the tissue with a warm iron

Cut a section of fusible interfacing slightly larger than your pattern piece

Using a press cloth and warm iron, lightly fuse the interfacing to the paper

Trim away any excess interfacing

Increase the iron's heat setting and fuse the layers together firmly. (paper side up)

Repeat the process for any remaining pattern pieces

Please keep in mind that it is still possible to stretch these out of shape or accidentally poke holes through them
if you aren’t careful. But they are definitely much more sturdy than your average piece of tissue paper.
